The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has upheld the life sentences awarded to six persons for attempting to murder a Scheduled Caste woman panchayat president in 2011 in Tirunelveli district.
A Division Bench of Justices G. K. Ilanthiraiyan and R. Poornima said the present case highlighted the unfortunate state of affairs in our country. This case serves as a clear example of illegal actions committed by the Castes Hindus on the SC Arunthathiyar community who are part of the marginalised group.
